Discovery Kids 3 and 4 years

Our Discovery Kids program is located in Snow Discovery Centre, lower level arcade of the Perisher Centre, which also houses Snowy Daycare. This enables us to provide the best opportunity for your young ones to be safe and have fun so they are more open to learning new skills.

Discovery Kids is a ski and care program combining an age appropriate mix of skiing time with games and other activities. This is a fun, no pressure introduction to the sport of skiing with specially trained instructors and indoor care staff.

Location: Perisher Valley only.

Ticket sales: The ticket counter at the Discovery Centre is open from 8.00am for program purchase.

Indoor Registration:
Check in and child drop off is from 8.15am for morning and all day programs and 12.15pm for the afternoon sessions.
Pick up times are from 3.15pm for all day and afternoon programs and at 12.00pm for morning sessions. Prior to registration, please ensure that your child’s entire belongings are clearly labelled.

Discovery Kids timetable:

Full Day Discovery:	8:30am to 3:30pm - includes lunch, refreshments, indoor activities and up to 4 hours of skiing.
Morning Discovery:	8:30am to 12:00pm - includes refreshments, indoor activities and up to 2 hours of skiing.
Afternoon Discovery:	12:30pm to 3:30pm - includes refreshments, indoor activities and up to 2 hours of skiing.
On-snow times:	Morning session 9:30am to 11:30am Afternoon session 1:00pm to 3:00pm

For the benefit of all children late arrivals may not be able to join the on-snow session once lessons have commenced outside. Children will be cared for indoors until they are able to join the lesson.

Children are placed into groups according to their ability and will need to be toilet-trained and willing to participate in the activities. On-snow activities and duration will be determined by the needs of all children in the group as well as prevailing weather conditions.

Parents are encouraged to check on their children but please be mindful that this can be disruptive and therefore we recommend a phone call first.

Lunch:
Our Discovery Kids Centre is a nut free zone. We are able to cater for all common food allergies, however, if the child suffers from severe food intolerances it is best that parents provide the meals.

Health Policy: While all possible care and attention is given to all children, sick children will not be permitted to join any of the programs.

What to bring:

• Special dietary requirements
• An approved snowsports helmet
• Warm headwear, sunglasses and/or goggles
• Waterproof gloves or mittens
• Skis and ski boots (no poles required)
• Ski suit/jacket and pants, spare socks and underwear
• Emergency contact number to leave with staff
• Clearly label all equipment and clothing with your child's name

Please be advised that due to space restrictions, no equipment storage is available overnight.

 

 The wearing of helmets is now compulsory in all Kids' programs including 2.5 hour lessons.

Helmets included free of charge with pre-booked All Day Kids' Programs including hire of Skis/Boots/Poles or Board/Boots pack through Perisher Snowsports Hire.

Lesson availability is dependent on demand. Not all advertised lesson times/dates may be available; please enquire when making a booking.

What level is your child?

First Time Discovery - never skied before, will learn basic skills to control speed and stop.

Turn Discovery - uses ski carpet and is ready to start turning, will learn to turn confidently.

Mountain Discovery - is confident and ready to ski the mountain, will develop advanced turning skills, ride chairlifts and discover green and blue trails.

Penguin Private 3 and 4 years

A one-on-one private lesson for the youngest of skiers; no additional people can be added.

Duration: 1 hour.

Available Lesson Times: 8:30am and 3:30pm.

For other available times, please enquire at the Snow Discovery Centre desk.

Penguin Private $84 per hour.

Mum & Me Private Lesson 3 to 5 years

This is a great way to start skiing and avoid separation anxiety. During a Mum & Me private lesson, our instructors teach your child while giving you tips (Mum or Dad welcome) on how to develop your child’s skills.

Duration: 1 hour.

Available Lesson Times: 8:30am and 3:30pm. For other available times, please enquire at the Snow Discovery Centre desk.

Advanced bookings are highly recommended, only one parent please.

Mum & Me Private $95 per hour.
