Resort Information

New for 2008

On the back of a great season of snow in 2007, Perisher Blue has committed to further capital expenditure in the resort for improvements and upgrades in time for winter 2008.

  • In its’ on-going pledge to implement sustainable environmental practises and in further support of the Keep Winter Cool program, Perisher Blue will be offsetting the carbon emissions of its entire grooming fleet with Origin Energy in 2008 and beyond. This initiative will supplement and enhance the environmental performance of the resort.

  • Approximately 5% of electricity for 2008 will be accredited renewable energy further improving environmental outcomes.

  • Extending on the $3.6M spent in 2007, snowmaking will be further expanded with an additional $9.75M investment in 2008. This will allow the introduction of a new water supply for Perisher Valley, an upgraded pump station and 34 new automated Techno Alpin snow guns (adding to the 154 existing snow guns). In total, 3.5 hectares of new snowmaking coverage (on top of the current 40 ha) will be included from Mid Station of the Forester Quad Express down to Front Valley covering Yabby Flat, Goats Gully and the Bullwheel run. This snowmaking modernisation effort will be up to 9 times more energy efficient than existing systems and improve reliability and snow quality in these high traffic areas.

  • Burton’s Learn To Ride (LTR) program will be introduced in both Hire and the Snowsports School in 2008. LTR incorporates the ability to hire the right equipment with proven teaching methods to make learning to board easy and fun for everyone. By using proven instruction methods and Burton equipment created specifically for beginners, LTR is designed for those seeking to quickly progress to the next level.

  • To assist first time skiers and boarders, a new $100,000 skier conveyor (or ski carpet) named “Harry’s & Herman’s” will be introduced at Smiggin Holes. This new lift will improve guest experiences as they learn and progress.

  • $140,000 will be invested on additional slope grooming and snow fencing to ensure better skiing and boarding experiences across the resort.

  • An extra addition to its already impressive grooming fleet will be a new Pisten Bully 600 groomer, thus further improving the efficiency and performance of the resort’s grooming fleet.

  • New guest information screens will be added in public areas enabling visitors’ access to up to minute information.

  • New Snowcams will be included on Perisher Blue’s website for guests to see for themselves current resort conditions.

  • In an on-going commitment to making Perisher Blue’s terrain parks the best in Australia, an extra $10,000 will be invested on new park features.

  • New Resort Technology Partner (RTP) developments will be added to make the purchase of passes easier and quicker, these will include a ticket kiosk at the Bullocks Flat Skitube terminal building.

  • Perisher Blue Snow Holidays has partnered with Reslogic, a turnkey travel software provider, enabling consumers and travel agents to shop and book directly from the Perisher Blue website. This exciting new feature will increase customer service and enhance the booking experience of our customers by providing online booking and quoting functionality and the ability to package holidays specific to their specific requirements.
