Snowsports Department Employment

Children Programs

Milo KidsWorking with children can be challenging and yet very rewarding. Perisher is a family resort and the Children’s programs are key to a great family holiday as well as creating long-term customers.

We employ experienced and returning staff from Australia and overseas. In addition each season we look for new instructors to join the team without prior ski teaching experience or qualifications.

We look at each applicant’s background and/or tertiary Child Care qualification in working with children.

Explorer Kids (8-14 years)

For the 8 to 14 year children it is all about getting out and about to explore the whole mountain. Kids can be very fast learners and are always up for a challenge to keep moving ensuring our instructors are kept on their feet and sliding down snowy hills.

Adventurer Kids (5-7 years)

The 5 to 7 year old Adventure children are real ‘go getters’. They not only check out the whole mountain but they also like to test our instructors for creativity and other on-snow activities. If you have a flare for games and still feel like a kid at heart, then how about joining the adventurers for a challenge.

Ski and Care Program (3 to 4 years of age)

For the instructors looking after the children 3-4 years of age it is not always about skiing. Sometimes the little guys need a break, so a game of tag in their ski boots might be in order before putting those skis back on to tackle the next run. Often your goal for this age group is to simply develop a love for the sport and being outdoors.

Skills and Ability:

Although the ability to ski is a prerequisite for Explorer and Adventurer Kids, we are not looking for a high level of skiing ability (minimum ability level 5 – some parallel turns on intermediate terrain – is required).

Ski and Care program requires experience working with children in areas such as child care centres. Childcare qualifications advantageous.

Training:

We provide the training needed to teach skiing and care for our children throughout the season as well as personal ski improvement training to gain confidence in your own ability.

Many of the new Instructors, who start their instructing career working with young children, then venture on to teaching and many have ended up working in resorts overseas.
