Perisher Blue is a family resort and the Junior Snow Kids program is key to a great family holiday as well as creating long-term customers.
For the 3-6 year old instructors, it is not always about skiing. Sometimes the little guys need a break, so a game of tag in their ski boots might be in order before putting those skis back on to tackle the next run. Often your goal for this age group is to simply develop a love for the sport and being outdoors.
We employ experienced and returning staff from both Australia and overseas. In addition each season we look for new instructors to join the JSK team without prior ski teaching experience or qualifications.
We look at each applicant’s background and/or tertiary Child Care qualification in working with children aged 3 to 6 years. Although the ability to ski is a prerequisite, we are not looking for a high level of skiing ability (minimum ability level 5 some parallel turns on intermediate terrain is required).
Working conditions:
We provide the training needed to teach skiing to children throughout the season as well as personal ski improvement training to gain confidence in your own ability.
Many of the new Instructors, who start their instructing career working with this age group, then venture on to teaching children aged 6 to 14 years and many have ended up working in resorts overseas.
JSK instructors generally work 7 hours per day on average with time spend on snow and supervising indoor activities.
Work schedule is based on 5 days per week to ensure enough personal ski time and training participation (during busy periods a 6 day per week work schedule maybe required).
Requirements:
For new applications, please attach a copy of your resume detailing previous employment history, your skiing experience and ability level and referee names and their contact details.
