Perisher - Blue Cow Link Road
(10km round trip)
Take the Blue Cow Link Road from the Northern End of the Perisher Valley Carpark. This road slowly ascends through sub-alpine to alpine country. You will see fantastic views of Blue Cow Mountain, The Brindabella Ranges and Schlinks Pass. You will be amazed at the spectacular views and the unique vegetation you will see along the way.

Taking approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach Blue Cow Mountain on foot. The walk travels alongside the Perisher Creek in part, and especially during spring while the snow is melting and after a good rain fall you will be in awe of the enormity of water pouring down, finally making it's way into the Snowy River.

When you reach the Blue Cow Terminal you will find a cement path providing a short stroll leading out to the Blue Cow Lookout, from here, on a fine day you will see the main range and 7 of Australia's highest peaks. If you are interested in Mountain Biking then this is a great route to experience. If you are planning to take this trip either on bike or on foot remember you must stay on access roads and off the fragile alpine vegetation. The Blue Cow Road is a maintenance road so remember to look out for traffic.

Porcupine Track
This walk starts at the reservoir which supplies water to Perisher Valley. To get there, turn up beside the "Man from Snowy River Hotel" and take the right branches of the road. The track follows in part the cross country ski trail. Because some areas of this track are often wet, some sections of the trail are constructed from raised metal mesh. The track wanders through snow grass, snow gums and open fields, alpine wild flowers and small shrubs until it reaches a large group of granite boulders, "The Porcupines". From atop these boulders the view spans 360 degrees from Lake Jindabyne, Charlotte Pass, the main range and Bullocks Flat, one of the most spectacular views in the area and particularly of the Thredbo Valley. There are plenty of grassy fields to take in some lunch and lungs full of sweet mountain air.
