Dumping

August 10th, 2008

Today has seen some of the nicest snow fall that I have seen all year. This week is sure to be a sweet for those looking for some fresh… that’s me tomorrow morning I think.
Amazing how the season goes, from the driest June on record, to good falls in July with some great sunny days to non stop snow in August so far. Its always amusing to reflect on the chicken little media that Australia’s ski resorts attract in June… but I guess we’re not at the end yet are we… but we’re sitting at 150cm which is close to the 5 year average snowdepth at Spencers Creek.

Thanks to all the PB staff that are working hard to make this a great season and thanks to all our guests that have complimented us and suggested how can improve…
Keen to hear your stories about enjoying the fresh in the last couple of weeks.

We’ve got some great events coming up in the next few weeks including the opening of Karl’s Run in Guthega in early September, should be a great day with Karl returning for the day and heaps of old friends there to celebrate. I’ll post some photos of the day.

Its all going on…

July 25th, 2008

Things are pretty busy for the Perisher Blue Team right now, we’re pushing for 100 groomed runs for Saturday (tomorrow), we’re getting close to finishing our superpipe, we’ll have 46 lifts open tomorrow and the list goes on and lots to do for the 20th Wild Winter weekend coming up next weekend.

And what a week this one was, brilliant sunshine, cool temps to keep the snow tip top and more snow on the way. First Tracks was great fun on Eyre this week and will be even better next week by the looks of the weather. I even bumped into a follower of the PB Blog up there. Hope to see lots of you up here this weekend.

The Perisher Card

July 8th, 2008

Hey,

Finally winter appears to be here with some oomph… more and more lifts opening up this week down here. All going well we’ll be pushing 40 lifts by the weekend I reckon.

So, we’ve released a new product in the Perisher Card for loyal Perisher skiers this winter and so far this season sales have exceeded our expectations. So, what do you all think?

New Snowmaking in full swing

June 14th, 2008

Its been a pretty full on lead up to the winter with such a busy summer of projects to finish off. A few natural snowfalls that came too early to be useful, some great snowmaking weather followed by some some rain and ordinary snowmaking weather. We’ve had some teething problems with the new snowmaking system also, nothing too major but small things that have kept us busy finding solutions.

The team has done very well to offer the best riding in Australia to date and with the V8 opening we reached another milestone and riders had a good time today. Tonight we got a start snowmaking but its just warmed up… frustrating. Anyways the snowmaking system is working very well and producing some great results…. some photos below of the new snowmaking up to mid station of the Forester Express taken yesterday.

thinking snow.
